One of the hallmarks of TFP Belfast Fertility is our dedicated team. Our medical consultants and laboratory director are all company directors and provide a wealth of experience to our patients. Furthermore, each member of our nursing, laboratory and administrative teams have been handpicked for their specialist skills and are fully contracted ensuring the highest standard of care in reproductive medicine, in terms of healthcare practice, scientific knowledge and ethics.

Dr Ishola Agbaje PhD MRCOG - Consultant in Reproduction Medicine

Dr Agbaje currently works as a Consultant Gynaecologist & Infertility Specialist in the Belfast Trust. A graduate of Queen’s University, he trained in London and Belfast, and was awarded a PhD in 2008. He has published a number of research papers related 
to male infertility, and has presented his work both nationally and internationally. He obtained RCOG sub-speciality training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery in 2010. His specialist interests include male infertility and reproductive endocrinology (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Ovulation disorders, Hirsutism). He is experienced in the advanced management of both male and female fertility problems including, Reproductive Surgery (fibroids, endometriosis & tubal disease), Ovulation Induction and Assisted Conception (In-vitro Fertilisation – IVF/ICSI).

Dr Peter McFaul MD FRCOG - Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Dr McFaul is a Consultant in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine in the Belfast Trust. His initial training was in Northern Ireland and Canada where he was first introduced to the speciality of reproductive medicine. On returning to Northern Ireland he continued to develop this interest. Further experience and training was obtained as a Lecturer at Dundee University and Ninewells Hospital.

Dr Jim Moohan MD FRCOG - Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Dr Moohan is a Consultant at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, where he established an infertility and advanced laparoscopic surgical service with a particular focus on the treatment of severe endometriosis. His training in infertility began as a research registrar in Queen’s University Belfast where he obtained his Doctorate Thesis. In 1992 he took up a position at the Hammersmith Hospital, London working alongside Professor Lord Winston. In 1993 he took up a position as subspecialty fellow in laparoscopic surgery at the world-famous Monash Medical Centre, Melbourne. On his return to Ireland in 1995, he spent a year at the HARI unit in the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin working with Professor Robbie Harrison

Dr Ralph Roberts MD FRCOG FRCP - Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Dr Roberts is a graduate of Queens University Belfast. He has a long history of work in the specialty of Reproductive Medicine and has a number of peer-reviewed publications in this field. Dr Roberts undertook subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine in Edinburgh and Glasgow. He returned to Northern Ireland as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Ulster Hospital and set up dedicated infertility services in both the public and private sectors. Dr Roberts has a particular interest in psychosexual problems resulting in infertility.

Dr Anthony Traub MD FRCOG - Consultant in Reproductive Medicine

Dr Traub has been a Consultant in infertility for more than thirty years, and recently retired from the NHS to devote his time to TFP Belfast Fertility. In his early career he worked for a year in a maternity hospital in Zimbabwe, and shortly after returning to Belfast obtained the MRCOG. He undertook a research project into sperm movement, and possible treatments. This resulted in the award of an MD (hons) and thereafter the publication of many peer-reviewed papers throughout his career. In 1987 he was largely responsible for developing the first IVF clinic in Ireland, achieving the first birth only 9 years after Louise Brown the world’s first IVF baby. He was Lead Clinician at the Regional Fertility Centre, Belfast, one of the UK’s largest NHS fertility clinics and saw the introduction to the service of major advances such as embryo freezing and ICSI. His other interest is Gynae Endocrinology, dealing with Ovulation disorders, PCOS and Hirsutism etc. He developed the RCOG Reproductive Medicine sub-speciality training programme in Belfast.

Mr Kevin McEleny BSC, BM, FRCS (ENG), FRCD (UROL), PhD - Consultant Urologist/Andrologist

Mr McEleny has worked as a Consultant Urologist in Newcastle-upon-Tyne since 2009 and has set up a supra-regional Male Fertility Service across the north of England and Northern Ireland. This provides advanced surgical treatments for couples who have significant male factor fertility problems. He is the Andrology Representative for the British Fertility Society (BFS) and is involved nationally in male fertility training. Kevin’s research interests include genetic, clinical and psycho-social aspects of male fertility. He and his team have presented their research, nationally and internationally, and he has published a number of scientific articles and review papers pertaining to male fertility. Mr McEleny brings to TFP Belfast Fertility a wealth of experience in the advanced management of male infertility, establishing the first Micro-TESE service in Northern Ireland. This technique, which is offered in only a few centers throughout the UK, offers the potential for biological paternity to men with severe male factor infertility.

Dr Robbie Kerr PHD MSC - Laboratory Director

Dr Kerr brings over 15 years of experience in clinical embryology to the team at TFP Belfast Fertility. He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1999 with a Masters in Assisted Reproduction Technology and commenced work as an embryologist at Manchester Fertility Services. During this time he attained the ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology. In 2007 he was awarded a PhD in Developmental Biology for his work assessing the role of Kinase signaling in early human development. On moving to St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester, he successfully applied his extensive knowledge to clinical research alongside Prof Daniel Brison & Prof Sue Kimber on early embryo development. On completion of this work he joined Glasgow Royal Infirmary Assisted Conception unit in 2009 as a Consultant Embryologist. The combination of his research background and clinical experience fulfills TFP Belfast Fertility’s ethos of applying evidence-based research with advances in clinical care.

Lee joined the administration team at TFP Belfast Fertility when we first opened in 2014 bringing with her a wealth of experience in customer service and quality management. After showing great initiative and commitment Lee has recently been promoted to the role of Senior Administrator. Her role ensures that we provide a first class service to all our patients, from the moment they make first make contact with TFP Belfast Fertility.
